Sydney Telugu Seniors (STS)
Sydney Telugu Seniors (STS), a wing of the Telugu Association was formed in April 2016, recognising the changing demographics of Telugu community in NSW and their changing needs. After 24 years of successful service to the Telugu community in NSW, Telugu Association Inc, through its Sydney Telugu Seniors (STS) arm provides a platform to organise various targeted activities for senior citizens for years to come.
Our overall aim is to contribute to the overall well-being of our Telugu senior citizens. Specific objectives are to:
- CONNECT our Sydney Telugu Seniors and would-be seniors to relevant services and expert advice on health, legal and social well-being to address their physical, social, emotional and recreational needs
- EMPOWER them to lead fulfilling lives and achieve their potential in our community
- PROVIDE opportunities to celebrate cultural activities, experiences, event and learning
Membership for Sydney Telugu Seniors (STS) group is open for all life members of Telugu Association and/or their spouses who are above the age of 55 years (at least one of them). Other Telugu seniors who are not members of Telugu Association are also welcome to join the association and take part in our activities.
In its inaugural meeting on 3 April 2016, the STS group agreed to organise bi-monthly events which include activities such as educational seminars (on health, legal, estate planning and/or finance), socializing, indoor games and hobbies, movie/book clubs, religious activities and discourses, group travel and charity activities.
